Climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative

News
KK Wind Solutions has received validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its climate targets, including a 63 percent reduction in direct operational emissions and a 38 percent reduction in supply chain emissions by 2035.

Founded in Denmark, KK Wind Solutions has been at the forefront of renewable energy innovation for more than four decades. The approval of its targets by SBTi reaffirms the company’s role in supporting the global transition towards electrification and a low-carbon economy.

Ambitious and absolute reductions

KK Wind Solutions has committed to absolute reductions from a 2024 baseline:

63% reduction in direct emissions from operations.
38% reduction in emissions across its global value chain, covering purchased goods and services, logistics and distribution, as well as business travel.

By committing to absolute targets rather than relative reductions, the company ensures that emissions must decrease in real terms, regardless of business growth. This approach requires significant decoupling of operational and value chain expansion from climate impact.

Delivering progress across operations and the value chain

As a leading supplier to the wind and renewable energy sector, KK Wind Solutions recognises its responsibility to act on climate change and to reduce emissions across both its operations and value chain.

To achieve its commitments, the company is taking concrete steps to decarbonise its own activities, including transitioning its vehicle fleet to hybrid and electric models and expanding on-site renewable energy generation, such as solar installation at its factory in India. At the same time, KK Wind Solutions is driving reductions across its value chain by optimising product design for lower carbon intensity, strengthening collaboration with suppliers, and advancing more sustainable logistics solutions.

“The validation of our targets by the Science Based Targets initiative is an important milestone in our sustainability journey. Our approach extends beyond our own operations to include employees, customers and suppliers, ensuring that meaningful reductions are achieved across the value chain,” says CEO of KK Wind Solutions, Mauricio Quintana.

He continues:
“Decarbonisation requires ambition coupled with innovation. Our technologies play a vital role in enabling electrification - from wind turbines to emerging industries such as hydrogen and green transport. With these targets, we are setting a clear course and committing our engineering expertise to deliver reliable and sustainable energy solutions.”

Credibility and long-term commitment

While some industry peers have obtained SBTi validation of their targets earlier, KK Wind Solutions has prioritised developing commitments that are both ambitious and achievable. This balanced approach provides a robust platform for delivering real and lasting emissions reductions in support of global climate objectives.

Progress towards its science-based targets will be disclosed annually, ensuring transparency, accountability and continuous improvement.

About KK Wind Solutions’ approved SBTi targets:

  • 63 % reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035 (base year 2024).
  • 38 % reduction in absolute Scope 3 emissions by 2035 (base year 2024).
  • Announced by SBTi on 30 October 2025.
